A Thoughtful Approach to Your Health

Dr. Kari Clark believes that exceptional healthcare begins with listening. She takes the time to understand each patient’s individual concerns, health history, and goals so that care can be personalized to the person—not simply the diagnosis.

Her approach combines prevention, wellness, and thoughtful management of chronic medical conditions. With her extensive background in Internal Medicine and cardiovascular care, Dr. Clark brings a comprehensive perspective to identifying health risks early and helping patients make informed decisions about their health.

Just as importantly, she believes patients should understand their care. Dr. Clark explains medical conditions and treatment options in a clear, approachable way and works in partnership with her patients to develop a plan that makes sense for their individual needs.

Her goal is simple: to help patients prevent disease, improve their quality of life, and remain healthy and independent for years to come.

Why Ocean Heart and Health Exists

Dr. Clark spent years practicing in increasingly corporate healthcare settings. Like many physicians, she watched the business of medicine grow more complicated, and saw how financial and operational pressures do not always point in the same direction as what a physician believes is right for the person in front of them.

That experience clarified something rather than discouraging her. It reminded her why she went into medicine in the first place: to listen properly, to leave room for questions, to make decisions together with patients, and to put the individual ahead of the schedule.

Ocean Heart and Health grew out of that. The practice is independent, physician-led, and family-run, and it is deliberately small — small enough that the decisions about your care are made by the people actually providing it. You can meet the team here.

Hospital Care and Continuity

Dr. Clark holds privileges as an internist at Cleveland Clinic Martin Health and rounds on patients there each morning.

This matters more than it might sound. When most primary care patients are admitted to a hospital, their care passes to a hospitalist they have never met, and their own physician — the one who knows their history — is out of the picture until they are discharged. Because Dr. Clark rounds at the hospital herself, there is a far better chance that the person overseeing your care during an admission is the person who already knows you.

It also means fewer gaps at the moments when they do the most damage: the handoff into the hospital, the handoff back out, and the medication changes that happen in between.

Osteopathic manipulative treatment is also available as part of her care. Read more about OMM and OMT.
